ECP to ‘consult’ major political parties, including PTI, on date of elections.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to consult all major political parties, including the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), regarding the date of general elections expected early next year, sources said on Tuesday. told JEE News late at night. .

According to the sources, the political parties will be consulted separately, the consultation will be on electoral road map as well as issues related to constituencies and voter lists.

Sources added that the ECP’s meeting with political parties is expected to begin in the next few days.

Among the major parties that the election watcher will meet are Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Awami National. Party included. (ANP) and Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F).

After receiving a briefing on the new Result Completion System (RCS) a day ago, the ECP expressed satisfaction over the mock exercise regarding its use.

Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja presided over a meeting in the Secretariat of the Commission in Islamabad in which members, secretary and other senior officers participated.

The Commission was briefed on RCS whereby the Presiding Officer can instantly send the results to the Returning Officer through a mobile app.

Moreover, the returning officers will be able to compile the inconclusive results with quick and accurate data about the votes under this system.

According to the Media Coordination and Outreach Wing of the Election Authority, regular mock exercises were conducted on this system and all phases of the system were checked.

The Commission finally expressed complete satisfaction with the system.

In recent years, the Commission has put in place some systems to deal with election results, including results transmission and management systems.

Apart from this, the commission also reviewed the work related to the delimitation of constituencies of the National Assembly and the four provincial assemblies in the light of the first digital census in 2023.

In this regard, the commission has also sent necessary communication to the provincial governments and statistics department.

Similarly, meetings have also been held with the concerned institutions, in which they have also been reminded through phone calls to provide the necessary maps and other data to the commission to start the delimitation process immediately.

To carry out the new delimitations, the five delimitation committees notified on Monday will receive district maps and necessary data from the federal capital and provinces by August 31.
