Quetta: Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique said on Friday that the railway track has been badly affected by the recent heavy monsoon rains and floods in different parts of the country.
Addressing a press conference in Quetta, he said that the staff of Pakistan Railways is working day and night to restore all the affected railway tracks.
He said that the federal and provincial governments are taking all possible steps to help the rain-affected people.
Saad Rafiq said that everyone should come forward to help the flood-affected families.
Germany has announced an additional 10 million euros for flood relief efforts in Pakistan.
German Ambassador to Pakistan Alfred Grannas, in a tweet, said this fund will be used for supply of food, hygiene products and medical supplies to the flood victims.
The ambassador said Germany’s total aid for relief has reached twenty-four million Euros.
Whereas, 87 trucks carrying humanitarian assistance from Tajikistan reached Jamrud via Torkham border, yesterday.
According to the Foreign Office Spokesperson, the handing over ceremony was attended by Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Amir Muqam, Tajik Ambassador to Pakistan Ismatullo Nasredin along with representatives of NDMA and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Humanitarian assistance from Tajikistan is welcomed with warmth and gratitude.
On the other hand, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched the survey to assess damages caused to houses in flood-affected districts.
The purpose of the survey is to collect the information and devise a mechanism to ensure efficient management and utilization of flood relief funds.
The field staff recruited for this purpose has been trained regarding the mobile application that was earlier developed for the survey. The field teams will go door to door and collect data electronically through the App.
