Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ramiz Raja said that the board did not leave fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi alone in what he termed as an unnecessary controversy.
On September 15, former all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi had said that Shaheen had borne all the expenses of his rehabilitation in London.
“How can anyone believe that Shaheen Shah Afridi’s parent body [PCB] can disown him?” This was said by Ramiz Raja on Friday while answering the question of cricket fans on social media. The fan said the board should have provided Afridi with all the facilities he needed.
“It is impossible. It is beyond comprehension that the PCB would leave it to itself to deal with it. It is unfortunate that an unnecessary controversy has arisen.”
He said it was the PCB that served batsman Mohammad Rizwan when he had health problems during the World Cup. “Our panel of doctors looked after him throughout the night, helping him recover and making it possible for him to play the final.”
Ramiz Raja also cited the example of batsman Fakhar Zaman traveling abroad for rehabilitation at PCB’s expense.
Chairman PCB attributed the Shaheen controversy to a possible lack of clarity. According to him, he [Shaheen Afridi] had to fly out of Dubai when he faced some ticketing issues.
“For PCB, players are the most important stakeholders,” said Raja. “No other cricket board is doing what the PCB is doing for its players – international and domestic.”
Shahid Afridi says that PCB is not supporting Shaheen financially.
On September 15, former cricketer Shahid Khan Afridi made a shocking revelation about Shaheen Shah Afridi’s knee rehabilitation in London.
Talking to a local TV channel, Shahid claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not providing financial support to Shaheen for his rehabilitation.
“Shaheen went to England for rehabilitation at his own expense, I arranged for a doctor there and he contacted him. PCB is not giving anything to Shaheen,” revealed Shahid, who happens to be Shaheen’s father-in-law. There are
