Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday asked his supporters to prepare for a real Azadi March coming to Islamabad, but refrained from giving the exact date of the march.
Addressing supporters at the swearing-in ceremony of the party’s new office-bearers at the Jinnah Convention Center in Islamabad on Thursday evening, Imran urged PTI women and youth wing members to be ‘real’ leaders of their party. Get ready for ‘Azadi’ March.
Those who have seized power and are bound in the corridors of power by filling their pockets with public money will not get your real freedom easily, Imran added that the price of real freedom is struggle and sacrifice.
He vowed that Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah would not find a place to hide in the federal capital once he left for his march.
The PTI chief admitted that he was not well prepared when he made his last long march on Islamabad in May. The march faced several obstacles erected by the government, including heavy shelling of tear gas in Islamabad and Lahore, as well as fortifications on the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway.
He said that now we will start our march with full force and preparation.
With Imran addressing a rally hundreds of miles away in Rahim Yar Khan, he urged party supporters to turn out in force in the federal capital on Saturday.
“On Saturday, Islamabad saw you protesting in large numbers,” he said, adding that he would see them at his rally in Rahim Yar Khan.
“This is your test, on Saturday you will show up with full strength,” he emphasized.
Although Imran has announced a new movement against the government since Saturday, he has yet to set a date for the long march that he has been teasing at several public meetings for weeks.
“I will give the call [of the Islamabad Long March] when I see that my lions and lionesses are ready.”
The former prime minister further said that after the date of March is fixed, he will give a call and everyone will have to answer.
