The United Nations will host a donors’ conference for flood-hit Pakistan

The United Nations (UN) has decided to host a donors’ conference for flood-hit Pakistan by the end of 2022, Reported on Friday.

Sources told that there has been significant progress on the global appeal to help flood-affected people across Pakistan as the United Nations will host a donors’ conference by the end of this year.

Sources further said that France will co-host the donors’ conference. The United Nations has started preparations for the upcoming conference.

The international community responded positively to the United Nations’ initiative for a donors’ conference to help Pakistan deal with flood disasters. Islamabad is likely to receive international aid to deal with the flood disasters.

The PM demanded concrete action.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has urged the international community to turn its solidarity into concrete action to help Pakistan overcome the crisis in the aftermath of the devastating floods.

In a tweet on Friday, he said that while interacting with world leaders on the third day of the UN General Assembly session, he was witnessing an outpouring of sympathy and solidarity with Pakistan over the flood disaster.

‘Debt Relief Indispensable’
In another tweet about his interview with Bloomberg, the prime minister said that given the scale and scope of the flood devastation, rich countries should consider giving Pakistan debt relief so that we can get back on our feet. Can stand up. He said that climate disaster is not ours.

In an interview with Bloomberg in New York today, he said Pakistan needs additional funds to deal with the devastation caused by climate-induced catastrophic floods.

The Prime Minister said that it is impossible to revive our economy with this unprecedented disaster without substantial debt relief.

He said that we have recently got an IMF agreement with very strict conditions which compels us to tax every month on electricity and petroleum products. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif further said that he has spoken to Paris Club and IMF in this regard.
