ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) Chairman Masroor Khan said on Friday that the levy on petrol will have to be increased to Rs 50.
Senator Mohsin Aziz presided over a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Petroleum. In the meeting, Chairman Ogra told the committee that the petroleum levy has to be increased, but the GST rate on petrol and diesel is zero. Secretary Petroleum told the meeting that the levy would be increased from Rs 37.42 to Rs 50 per liter by April.
Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) Managing Director Imran Manyar told the committee that SSGC incurs a loss of Rs 14 billion annually in Balochistan, of which 80 percent is due to gas theft. The committee also asked Sui Southern authorities for gas load management plan in the next meeting.
