Although the Karachi police have arrested one suspect involved in harassing Turkish Vlogger Saida Noor, a boy who was accused by the vlogger of touching her private parts is still at large.
what happened
Seyda Noor is a female Vlogger from Turkey who is currently in Pakistan to show the bright side of the country through her videos. On September 15, she posted her recorded blog on her social media account.
In the first part of the video, Noor can be seen visiting Karachi’s historic Empress Market and Sadar areas, and then in the second part, the vlogger is in a room.
In a later segment, she explained how she experienced harassment during the recording. Noor had linked some snippets from his blog in which a man was seen constantly following him on the side of the road in the markets of Saddar’s area.
“As you could see this strange man in a blue t-shirt, he started following me and whenever, I was stopping, he was just passing me and waiting in one place. I had to pass him, so he could follow me again. There was a moment when I felt something was off. So I started checking my phone for the address. I stopped again. Made sure he wasn’t around me anymore.
“While I was checking my phone, someone touched my private area here on my back. I turned around. I was ready to punch. Then I saw a little twelve-year-old boy. I thought, Maybe he touched me by mistake because he was so small and short. I didn’t say anything. I made my way to the address and as I was walking to the place, I realized that the man in blue was behind me again. is,” he continued.
“I stopped the bus and when I stopped I felt the boy on my left,” Noor said in the video. Both of them were following me. Then, it clicked. I just yelled at them. I was swearing, I said leave me behind. I’m going to call the police. I don’t want to see your faces. You better run and they seriously ran, but little boy, he actually turned around and made some very inappropriate gestures with his hands.
The police are yet to trace ‘Mr Boy’
After Noor’s blog went viral on social media, the Karachi police swung into action. Predi police arrested one of the harassers, identified as Shoaib.
However, police have yet to trace the 12-year-old boy whom the Turkish Vlogger accused of inappropriately touching and stalking the suspect after taking him into custody.
Predi police chief Moharrar Shoaib Anwar told Sama Digital that the police shared photos of a suspect with shopkeepers who identified him as Shoaib.
Anwar said that the accused is a resident of Khudadad Colony and son of a jeweller.
He was arrested by the president when he came to collect the monthly rent.
However, the police have been unable to trace and arrest the young boy, who, according to the vlogger, touched her private parts and chased her with Shoaib.
When South Zone Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Sharjeel Kharal was asked about this, he confirmed that they went after Shoaib and not the young boy.
Kharl explained that the police swung into action soon after the vlog went viral on social media. “Without wasting time, the police arrested the victim,” he added.
Separately, the Vlogger thanked the Karachi Police for arresting one of the suspects. He hoped that the accused must have learned his lesson, and would not trouble any woman again.
