Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah has been taken to a hospital in Lahore after his condition worsened late on Tuesday. His illness has made his participation in the next T20 international match against England doubtful.
Sources said that Shah was suffering from high fever for the last two days due to a chest infection. The fever had sapped Shah of any strength and sources said he did not leave his room all day on Tuesday.
On Tuesday evening, his condition seemed to deteriorate further, necessitating a visit to the hospital.
Shah underwent tests for viral dengue fever after which he was admitted to a local, private hospital for treatment.
It is now unlikely that he will make it to Pakistan’s next match during the ongoing seven-match series against England.
Now it is expected that spinner Abrar Ahmed can be debuted in the next match. Fellow spinner Usman Qadir may be rested.
