Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa says that armed forces are away from politics and want to stay away.
COAS Bajwa made this important statement during his speech at the luncheon at the Pakistani Embassy in Washington.
He further said that the recovery of Pakistan’s ailing economy should be the priority of every stakeholder of the society.
The Army Chief said during an informal conversation that without a strong economy, other nations will not be able to achieve their goals.
Shortly after his lunch, the COAS met US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin at the Pentagon on Tuesday afternoon.
Both discussed bilateral and regional issues. Secretary Austin also presented a cordon of honor to the Army Chief. The Army Chief, who is here on a week-long visit, also met US National Security Advisor (NSA) Jack Sullivan and Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman separately.
The Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that issues of mutual interest, regional security situation and bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed during the meetings.
According to ISPR, General Bajwa thanked the US authorities for their support and reiterated that “the assistance of our global partners will be indispensable for the rehabilitation/rehabilitation of flood victims in Pakistan.”
“Both sides agreed that Pakistan and the United States have a long history of bilateral cooperation and will continue to improve through economic ties, trade and investment,” the statement added. The statement said that the army chief expressed his heartfelt condolences over the loss of life and destruction caused by the hurricane in Florida. He said that Pakistan fully understands the loss and pain of the affected families as Pakistan is suffering from similar effects of climate change.
“Both sides agreed on important international issues, including Afghanistan, and the need for cooperation to avoid humanitarian crises and improve peace and stability in the region,” the statement said.
