ISLAMABAD: World Bank Country Director Naji Benhasin said on Saturday that the Bank will help Pakistan by allocating $2 billion from existing Bank-financed projects for emergency operations in flood-affected areas. Is.
He said this during a meeting with Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar at the Finance Division in Islamabad along with his team.
The country director of the World Bank added that funds of about $1.5 billion will be mobilized this year in view of the emergency situation.
The Finance Minister welcomed Naji Benhasin and his team and shared the economic challenges the country is currently facing. He said that the present government is well aware of the problems and is taking practical steps to remove the obstacles in the way of development.
He said that the current government is determined to take the economy on the path of sustainable and comprehensive development. He also informed about the recent flood disaster in the country.
Bin Hussain congratulated the Finance Minister on taking charge of the post and apprised about the World Bank’s current programs and future support for Pakistan.
Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar lauded the World Bank for advancing the reform agenda and being instrumental in the implementation of various development projects for the country. He further said that Pakistan values ​​the financial and technical assistance provided by the World Bank for the country’s institutional reforms and economic development.
The Finance Minister assured them of meeting with advance measures for timely completion of the programs and thanked them for their continued cooperation and facilitation.
