The Sindh High Court ordered the permanent removal of the name of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Inam Memon from the Exit Control List (ECL) in the disproportionate assets case.

A two-member bench of the Sindh High Court headed by Justice KK Agha heard the case.

This is the second case in which his name has been removed from the no-fly list.

Earlier on October 4, the Sindh High Court had permanently removed Memon’s name from the ECL in a case of abuse of power.

A case is pending against him for misusing his powers as Local Government Minister and buying a plot in Karachi Cantonment with ill-gotten gains.

In the hearing held earlier this month, Sharjeel Memon’s lawyer Ali Wahid took the stand that when Sharjeel applied for bail, the court put his name in the ECL. Since then, whenever he wants to go out of the country, he has to get permission.

Sharjeel Memon has been appearing in the court for every hearing so his name should be removed from the ECL, pleaded the lawyer.

On the other hand, the government and NAB also support the decision to remove Memon’s name from the list.

Later, the court ordered the authorities to remove Sharjeel’s name from the no-fly list.
