A video has gone viral on social media in which abandoned bodies are lying on the roof of the anatomy department of Nishtar Hospital Multan, which are being eaten by crows and eagles.
Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab Saqib Zafar asked the medical superintendent of the hospital for a response within three days.
A local said that it is sheer incompetence of the hospital management, they are desecrating the bodies by leaving them on the roof like this. It is not allowed in Islam, he said, adding that if they want to experiment, they should find another way for it.
People said that disrespecting the dead is not proper behavior.
Despite the orders of Health Advisor Chaudhry Tariq Zaman Gujjar, the bodies were lying abandoned and partially decomposed on the roof of the hospital.
On the other hand, Nishtar Hospital spokesperson Dr. Sajjad Masood claimed that the dead bodies are being kept on the roof as they need to dry naturally.
Dr. Masood said that for this reason the bodies were kept on the roof of the mortuary.
The hospital administration said that after the dead body is declared abandoned, a letter is written to the CPO seeking permission to use the dead body for teaching anatomy to students.
