Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra has asked Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan to avoid appearing in commercials that ‘hurt religious sentiments’ after the actor’s recent ad campaign sparked outrage. .
The ad was for a bank where Khan and co-star Kiara Advani are getting married as a Hindu couple and performing Hindu wedding rituals.
Hindu right-wing activists have called the ad offensive and believe it has attacked Hindu culture.
The ad shows Khan stepping into his bride’s house after the wedding, whereas in reality Hindu tradition requires a bride to enter her groom’s house.
Some have praised the ad, saying it violates gender norms.
Stating that the ad “advocates for gender equality”, one Twitter user asked why people were “blaming Iran’s Mullah”.
Hindu Right Wing attacks Aamir Khan again – This time for an ad that advocates gender equality. For Hindu right wing, gender equality is against Hindu tradition. Why do you blame Iran's Mullahs?

Another said that the ad was about “treating our daughters with respect, love” and some called it “progressive”.
The new Aamir Khan, Kiara ad is actually quite progressive and hits all those self appointed thekedaars of Hindu tradition!!!

It's now like a sin even if he breathes in this country, useless netizens have no work apart from trolling and abusing anything he does!!!
However, others pointed out Khan’s hypocrisy saying that he should also change his own religion’s norms and rituals.
Mishra told the reporters that he received a complaint about the ad, requesting the Bollywood celebrity to keep the Indian traditions in mind and not do such ads.
I received complaints & saw the ad. I request Aamir Khan to appear in ads keeping in mind Indian traditions.
