Former Union Council Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was arrested from a polling station in Multan on Sunday for violating the election code of conduct.
The returning officer of NA 157 said that Hamid Janjua was initially detained after women were found hiding around the polling station, which is not allowed.
Additionally, he was allegedly found filming women entering and exiting polling stations in gross violation of the election code of conduct.
He was taken into custody and later handed over to the police for further legal action.
In NA 157, a tight contest is expected between PTI’s Mehr Bano Qureshi and PPP’s Ali Musa Geelani.
Meher Bano Qureshi is the daughter of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Vice President Shah Mehmood Qureshi while Ali Musa Gilani is the son of former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
