The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has started an inquiry against former Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Accountability Mirza Shehzad Akbar in the ring road scandal.
The bureau has asked the former SAPM to submit a reply regarding his alleged role in the scam, the property he owned, his relationship with Bahria Town and the property dealer.
Documents available at Investigation Unit show that NAB has started an investigation against the former SAPM for his alleged role in the Rawalpindi Ring Road scam and has directed him to submit a reply in this regard on October 21, 2022. .
The bureau has asked Akbar whether he or any of his family members own a plot in Chakri or Gujjar Khan and how much land is on the side of the ring road.
The former SAPM has also been asked about his association with Bahria Town and property dealers. The Bureau asked, “Have you ever had a meeting with officers/officials regarding the ring road scam?”
Shahzad Akbar is also accused of appointing people of his choice in institutions and interfering in the Ring Road project through his people posted in Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) and Anti-Corruption Punjab.
The former SAPM has been asked about his connection with the sugar and oil companies scam and has been asked to submit a reply in this regard on Friday.
