RAWALPINDI: After Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed challenged the notice to vacate his residence in Lal Haveli, Rawalpindi’s District and Sessions Court on Tuesday dismissed the abandoned Waqf Estate Board’s (e. TPB) issued a restraining order. To temporarily prevent eviction of the structure.

On October 16, the board issued a directive to AML chief Rasheed and his brother Sheikh Siddique to vacate their residence within seven days. However, the former minister challenged this notice in court on Monday.

It should be noted that the court had fixed October 24 for the hearing of the case while the last date for vacating Lal Haveli was October 19.

Considering this, the former Home Minister filed a fresh petition in the same court seeking an injunction against the eviction notice.

During the hearing, Rasheed’s lawyer Abdul Razak informed the court and told that the name of Lal Haveli was used under the guise of rental shops.

Rasheed’s counsel argued that the deputy administrator issued an illegal notice to his client under government pressure. After that, he requested the court to declare these orders null and void.

Meanwhile, the court adjourned the hearing while reserving judgment on the case.

After a brief adjournment, the local court suspended the October 12 orders of the Evacuee Trust Property Board for 15 days while announcing the decision. “The petitioner has the right to appeal within 15 days of the eviction orders,” the judgment read.
