Netflix’s high school series Riverdale has begun production on the show’s seventh and final season. The last episode of the drama will hit the theaters in 2023.
Series writer and co-executive producer Ted Sullivan shared an update on production work on Instagram.
He posted a photo of the slate covering the majority of the frame, showcasing the first shot of the final season. In his caption, Sullivan wrote that “such an awesome season” is coming to viewers soon.
He also thanked show creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa for bringing Riverdale to this point.
Although, plot details for the upcoming season are still a mystery, Aguirre-Sacasa only revealed that the premiere episode will be titled “Dont Worry, Darling.”
Season one of Riverdale premiered in 2017, revolving around a group of high school teenagers who have a lot going on as they solve a murder mystery that terrorizes the town.
The series became very popular not only among viewers but also non-viewers, as the show featured wild plotlines, including a D&D-style game that later turned malicious, annual musical episodes, multiverses, and more.
