Islamabad Police on Friday arrested two people, including a police constable, for firing at law enforcement officials outside the Election Commission of Pakistan.
DIG Operations Islamabad Police Sohail Zafar Chatta while talking to the media said that one of the accused is a constable in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and was posted as a gunman along with PTI MNA Saleh Muhammad from Mansehra.
The DIG said, “He tried to open fire on the Islamabad police personnel.
Chatta said that the officers present at the crime scene seized the rifle from him and shifted him to the police station.
“He had a government-issued Kalashnikov,” DIG.
He said that the police will investigate how the accused managed to bring the weapon there and why he did this.
Chatta added that we are trying to identify the other accused.
