Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie will play the role of an opera singer in her upcoming film Maria.
Angelina Jolie will play Maria Callas, an American opera singer, in an upcoming film directed by Pablo Lerín, it was announced on Friday.
According to the press release, the film will “tell the turbulent, beautiful and tragic life story of the world’s greatest opera singer, relived and reimagined during her final days in Paris in the 1970s.” .
The screenplay for the upcoming film is written by Steven Knight, who also wrote Lauren’s 2021 film Spencer.
“I take the responsibility of Mariah’s life and legacy very seriously. I will do everything in my power to meet the challenge,” Jolie said.
“Pablo Loren is a director I have long admired. To have the opportunity to tell more of Maria’s story with him and Steven Knight’s script is a dream come true.” he added.
“Having the opportunity to combine two of my most profound and personal passions, cinema and opera, was a long-awaited dream,” said Lauren.
He added, “To do this with Angelina, who is such a brave and curious artist, is an exciting opportunity. A real gift.”
Jolie, 47, is currently in post-production on her fifth film as a director, Blood.
Callas is an American-Greek opera actor, who died of a heart attack in 1977 at the age of 53, as reported by JEE News.
