Nick Carter, the heartthrob of the iconic ’90s boy band, Backstreet Boys, opened up about fatherhood and his career in an interview with PEOPLE.
Carter is currently on the European leg of his DNA World Tour. They’re also ringing in the holidays a little early with the release of their new album, A Very Backstreet Christmas.
The Grammy Award nominee, 42, shared that she missed her daughter’s third birthday before going on a tour that left her very depressed. However, his teammates were there to help him through.
“I totally missed my middle daughter’s third birthday,” she said. “Some of the other guys have actually gone through that, where they haven’t been able to go home because the schedules conflicted so much. So I experienced that first hand.”
“But again, FaceTime helps, talking to them all the time, touching base with them. And, for us, it’s our life. That’s what we’ve done all our lives in terms of travel. So they are adjusting to it,” he added.
Carter shares sons Odin Ryan, 6, Searce, 3, and daughter Pearl, 18 months, with wife Lauren Cutt, whom he married in 2014.
The singer had earlier shared that he was excited to see his daughter perform.
“I’m really excited to perform and have her in the audience for the first time, because she really loves music. She loves to sing,” Carter said on Parents magazine’s We Are Family podcast in March. “She and I actually, we go back and forth sometimes. She can actually harmonize, which is very impressive.”
