LAHORE: PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday announced the date of his party’s long march, saying that it will begin on October 28, Friday.This announcement was made when Imran Khan was holding a press conference at the Chief Minister House in Lahore, during which he said that the march will start at 11 am from Liberty Chowk in Lahore.The former prime minister termed PTI’s long march as “far above” politics and said the move was tantamount to “jihad” as now was the decisive moment for the people of Pakistan to choose their side.”This march will decide whether people want to be enslaved by these “thieves” or not. Our right is freedom march and it has no time frame. We will reach Islamabad from GT Road and the nation will come from all over Pakistan. Islamabad,” he maintained.

Highlighting the manner in which the government had issued a warning to the PTI regarding the long march, Khan said that when he was the prime minister, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Maryam of the Muslim League-N Nawaz and PPP’s Bilawal Bhutto Zardari held two rallies each. The Long MarchHe said that at that time he ignored the economic situation of the country.The government first approached the Supreme Court to stop PTI’s long march. However, the apex court rejected PTI’s plea seeking an interim injunction to stop the planned long march – giving a boost to the Khan-led party.Before approaching the Supreme Court, the government issued repeated warnings to the PTI chief, with a top official saying authorities would extend their May 25 policy from 10 if Khan announced another long march. will giveIf PTI does another long march, it will be coming to Islamabad for the second time. The last march was held on 25 May and Khan abruptly called off the march after reaching Islamabad.Khan added during the press conference that he should have started the long march long ago but the government had put obstacles in the way for the party.”On May 25, our peaceful marchers were attacked and we had to withdraw it just for the sake of the country. There was horse-trading in the Sindh House and our government was brought down by force.
