JEE News reported on Friday that the two-member fact-finding committee set up by the Federal Ministry of Interior to investigate the killing of renowned journalist Arshad Sharif will leave for Kenya today.
The government had initially formed a three-member team comprising officers from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Intelligence Bureau (IB).
However, the number of team members has been reduced to two. The team now includes FIA Director Athar Waheed and IB Deputy Director General Umar Shahid Hamid.
The inquiry body will leave Islamabad for Doha, Kenya this morning. The team will stay in the country for 15 days.
The team has been provided with relevant documents including Arshad Sharif’s post-mortem report.
According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the investigation team will immediately leave for Kenya and submit its report to the Ministry.
Apart from the two-member team, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also announced that a judicial commission headed by a High Court judge will investigate Sharif’s murder.
The Kenyan police have admitted in their report that Sharif was shot in the head in a case of mistaken identity.
Sharif’s body was brought to Islamabad on Wednesday [October 26] morning. His family received his body at Islamabad Airport.
His funeral prayer was offered at Shah Faisal Masjid Islamabad on Thursday at 2 pm. Later, he was buried at the H-11 cemetery in the federal capital.
According To the Postmortem Report, He Died Due To Excess Blood
Slain journalist Arshad Sharif died of blood loss thirty minutes after being shot in the chest and head, a preliminary post-mortem report conducted in Pakistan revealed on Thursday.
An eight-member medical board comprising senior doctors of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (PIMS) issued the report after conducting the post-mortem of Sharif’s body. During the post-mortem, X-ray and CT scan of the body were also done.
According to the report, metal fragments from the bullets found in Sharif’s lungs, heart, stomach, kidney and other parts of the body have been sent to the forensic laboratory.
A final report will be prepared after the results of the forensic laboratory.
Arshad Sharif, a popular TV anchor and investigative journalist, was killed in a “mistaken identity” shooting by Kenyan police near Nairobi, the Kenyan capital, on Sunday night.
Kenya Police Account of Arshad Sharif’s Death
In claiming responsibility for Arshad Sharif’s murder, Kenyan police said he was shot dead when police, tracking a jacked-up car, fired indiscriminately at his car, mistaking it for a stolen vehicle. .
A Kenyan police report said they suspect the car was taken as a minor hostage when it drove through a human barricade without stopping. However, the country’s police later changed their stance as they claimed that they were shot from the car first.

However, PTI leader Faisal Vawda disputed the Kenyan police’s account of Arshad Sharif’s murder under the case of mistaken identity. He said that his murder was premeditated and the conspiracy was hatched in Pakistan.
The PTI leader said that the martyrdom of Arshad was not just an accident, it was a premeditated murder. He pointed out that Arshad Sharif was shot at close range.
He also said that the “conspirators” blackmailed Arshad and threatened him to leave Pakistan, so he went to Dubai.
