Veteran director Ismail Shroff, aged 62, passed away today in Mumbai due to an illness.
The deceased director was admitted to the Kokila Ben Dhirubai Ambani Hospital about a month ago after allegedly suffering a heart attack. He died today in the same hospital.
Indian celebrities namely Govinda, Ashok Pandit and Padmini Kolhapure offered condolences to Ismail’s family.
Govinda’s debut film Love 86 was directed by Shroff. He wrote: “I am very sad. My career started with his film. May the upper one rest in heaven. May his soul rest in peace. He not only gave me work but also trusted me. He He was the first person in my life who said Govinda understands cinema. He played a huge role in making me Govinda from Govinda.
Meanwhile, Ashok Pandit wrote: “Saddened to learn of the passing away of renowned filmmaker Ismail Shroffji in Mumbai at the age of 62. He had directed many hit films including Shaldi, Blandi, A bit of infidelity, and Suriya etc involved. This is another big loss to the film industry. Heartfelt condolences to his family. Om Shanti.”
Padmini Kolhapure also wrote a few words on the death of the great director. “I had a bit of a crush on him. Ahista is very close to my heart. He seemed stern in his manner but his face was smiling. He was very sure of what he wanted and he gave it to him. Will make it. We had a great time together as actor and director. He was a very sensitive director. It’s a great loss. He left his mark in the industry, Padmini wrote.
As per JEE News, Esmayeel Shroff’s famous films included; Ahista Ahista, Zid, Agar, God and Gun, Police Public, Majhdhaar, Dil Akhir Dil Hai, Bulundi, Nishchaiy, Suryaa and Jhuta Sach. His last film directorial film was Thoda Tum Badlo, Thora Hum was released in 2004 starring Arya Babbar and Shriya Saran.
