ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Friday that the Pakistani government is trying to restore ties with the United States as he questioned his predecessor’s move to sour relations with Washington.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed these views while addressing the passing out parade ceremony of the 48th Special Training Program of the Police Service of Pakistan at the National Police Academy.

In the beginning of his address, the Prime Minister appreciated the role of the police in ending terrorism and said that their sacrifices will not go in vain. He said that the daughters of this nation are advancing in every field and are playing an important role in the development of Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that there are sons and daughters in Pakistan who risk their lives to fight for the nation. He said that they should be trained with modern technology.

He termed Counter Terrorism Department and Punjab Science Agency as role model departments and said that they need to be copied in other parts of the country.

The Prime Minister congratulated the cadets who received honors in the professional field and expressed satisfaction over the role of women police force in national development.

He urged the cadets to show dedication, professionalism and determination in their field.

The Prime Minister said that despite financial constraints, the government will provide funds to the Islamabad Police to enhance its professional capacity.

Crown Prince’s Visit to Pakistan
Prime Minister Shehbaz said that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud will visit Pakistan for the $12 billion state-of-the-art deep conversion refinery project along with the petrochemical complex in Pakistan.

He expressed regret that this plan was first presented in 2019 but no progress could be made on it.

The prime minister also said that the previous government did not start work on the projects presented by the Saudi Development Fund. He said that all the procedures for delayed projects have been completed in two days.

Delays in projects
During the event, the Prime Minister shared a story about the Saudi Development Fund delegation that had come to Pakistan a few days ago. He said that the delegation expressed complaints about the delay in projects by the previous government.

“That’s not how nations are built,” remarked the prime minister. He described the incident as shameful and said that he apologized to the Saudi Crown Prince during his recent visit to the kingdom.

He said that if hospitals and other projects were made, it would have benefited our Pakistanis.

The Prime Minister also distributed shields and medals to the officers who achieved prominent positions during the course.
