Former Prime Minister and Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is addressing the nation for the first time after surviving the assassination attack in Wazirabad.
One person, including former Prime Minister Imran Khan and PTI Senator Faisal Javed, was killed and several others injured in an attack on Iran Khan’s container in Wazirabad on Thursday.
Addressing the nation through video link, Imran said that my aim is that I want to put the events of the last six months before the nation.
Government Change Roulette
In a statement that belied the real hands supporting his government, Imran said the establishment was truly responsible for his ouster.
“People voted for me because people were tired of the corrupt practices of the previous governments,” Imran said, adding that the establishment that toppled him has now brought him back thinking it was a domestic and foreign conspiracy. It’s time for a change of government and then they call themselves neutral.”
Future of the Long March
Talking about the future of the long march, Imran said that as soon as he is better and able, he will return to the streets.
His statement said that the long march has been stopped for now.
He was aware of the murder plan.
A defiant Imran said he was already aware of the assassination plan, adding that it was hatched by three men a day before it was carried out in Wazirabad.
“I had prior knowledge of the attack plan. They planned to kill me in Gujarat or Wazirabad. .
He added that since he was ousted there had been a concerted campaign to tarnish his reputation through desperate measures to defame him and remove him from the field.
The former prime minister said that on March 6 or 7, heavy weapons came to Pakistan to target him.
Elaborate murder plan
Recalling what happened when the attack took place, Imran said at least two bullets were fired at him.
He said that after the first burst of firing, he was injured and fell down.
After he fell, a second round of bullets was fired and the bullets flew over his head.
Pointing out how the attack came from two sides, he said one attack came from his left while the other came from his front.
He added that the person arrested was possibly part of a larger group of killers.
Registration of FIR
Imran said that he had tried to register an FIR of the attack.
‘Public support encouraged me’
Imran said the sea of people who took to the streets after his government was toppled in April and then followed him on the streets for the Long March in May had lifted his spirits and encouraged him to continue his movement. .
“I was amazed by the response of the people, the way they appreciated and encouraged me, even in the hot days of April and May.”
He said that Pakistan was one of the hottest countries in the world in those days, yet a large crowd came out, so we announced a long march on May 25.
Imran added that the government believed that his party would die after his removal because it was a “mommy-daddy” party where only women and children came.
But they never understood the Pakistani nation.
Decisions behind closed doors
Referring to decisions made behind closed doors, he said, “When decisions are made behind closed doors, you never know what is happening on the ground.”
If the information provided by them was correct, the country would not have witnessed so many incidents.
He said that when he saw that people rejected the imported government and took to the streets, he thought that the use of force would push them back and bring them into line.
He added that the people expressed themselves through the ballot box and rendered the government machinery useless in the July 17 by-elections.
“The ECP rigged for the government and did not allow the use of EVMs as both [alliance] parties registered fake votes in almost every constituency.”
Use of EVMs is a major demand
Imran referred to the 2015 Judicial Commission hearing on rigging, which clarified that 90 per cent rigging in the country would be eliminated only when EVMs were used.
“The ECP did not allow the use of EVMs and both these parties and their ‘handlers’ opposed the use of EVMs.”
He further said that he wants to conduct free and fair elections using EVMs to eliminate manipulation as much as possible.
“Despite opposition to EVMs, PTI still swept the polls to everyone’s shock,” Imran added.
Tolerance for opposition
Imran said that the opposition parties (now the coalition government) marched against us three times to the federal capital.
“We did not stop them but we allowed them to come unopposed because it was their constitutional right,” he said, adding, “We thought that when they were in power, they would also allow us.” but they resorted to violence.”
He added that the government conducted midnight raids on the houses of party leaders and workers to arrest people and did not respect the sanctity of the home.
Imran warned that you cannot wall the country’s largest political party.
Handlers
Calling the handlers of the government, he said that pressure and threats increased after the handler came to Islamabad, whose aim was to keep PTI on its feet.
He said that after the entry of this handler, media censorship increased manifold and journalists supporting PTI faced restrictions.
“Our MPA was intimidated into leaving us by threats of corruption cases and the release of his alleged inappropriate videos.”
He expressed regret that this is a repeated formula in the country’s politics.
“This is what has been happening in this country. Our own agencies are interfering with the democratic process and using tactics like this instead of realizing that they made a mistake and the same mistake is being repeated over and over again.
He added that they tried to use the ECP to disqualify them. Further, he said that nothing was proved against him in the foreign funding case.
Later it came to light that this was not a case of foreign funding but a case of “prohibited funding” and the party (PTI) could not be disqualified in this case.
He said the government then changed its focus and tried to use the Tosha Khana case against him. All the records of Tosha Khana are there and there was no possibility of corruption from Tosha Khana. If there was any corruption, it would have been exposed.
Imran alleged that the ECP disqualified him from London on the instructions of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif.
Trick of thieves
He cited how in the 1990s, “two governments were brought down in the 90s on corruption charges.
Whenever the establishment overthrew governments, the people appreciated those decisions and distributed sweets.
Then General Pervez Musharraf imposed martial law after ousting two governments on the grounds of corruption.
People also liked the end of corrupt governments and also liked the decisions.
Later General Musharraf granted him NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance) and he returned to national politics.
Imran Khan further said that General Musharraf decided to grant NRO even though he had no right to do so.
Whenever he looted public money, he forgave his corruptions.
He said that the country’s debt increased four times in just 10 years during this period.
Corruption cases were filed against these parties in the last 10 years for which they are now seeking NRO (two).
He said that 95 percent of the cases were filed in the years for which they are seeking NRO-II.
Injuries
Imran Khan appeared live through the video wearing a hospital gown.
His right foot could be seen in a cast while his left knee was wrapped in bandages.
Former Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan briefed the media about Imran Khan’s injury.
He showed an X-ray report showing bullet and bullet fragments.
Conspiracy
Reiterating that US diplomat Donald Lowe threatened the Pakistani ambassador that Pakistan would face consequences if he did not oust the current prime minister (Imran Khan).
On the other hand, Imran Khan said that if they accept their demand, everything will be smooth for Pakistan.
The PTI chief said that the government usually never loses a no-confidence motion because it is a money game.
“We could use money to buy the loyalty of MPs. The opposition used their looted wealth in the VONC movement,” he said, adding that votes against him had been bought.
He claimed that the money used by the opposition in horse trading was black money.
“We have decided that we will not participate in this game and use public money in this auction,” claimed the former prime minister.
After that our government was overthrown and they thought that PTI’s grave had been dug.
“The Pakistani nation always does the unexpected and I was surprised by the reaction of the nation on April 10 (after I was kicked out),” he said.
