Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Friday attempted to assassinate Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, with violent street protests escalating across the country. Hui has expressed concern over anarchy. He said that it is harmful for Pakistan.
He reacted to the ongoing tense situation in the country and the serious allegations leveled by Imran Khan against the state institutions.
He said that Imran Khan should refrain from making allegations regarding his assassination, adding that naming someone is tantamount to making a political statement. Patience should be practiced.”
He (Imran Khan) should appeal to people to protest peacefully, Shujaat said, urging calm during clashes between protesters and the police in several cities.
Imran Khan should stick to his earlier plan and continue the long march peacefully. Instead of taking revenge.”
He said that all parties should try to end the tension.
He said that I would advise the federal and Punjab governments to work with a cool mind.
Investigation of the Attack
On the attack, Shujaat said that the Punjab government is being run by Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, a member of his party.
Therefore, he questioned why allegations are being made against the federal government.
Advising Nawaz
Given the current situation in the country, Shujaat said that he had advised deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif that the time was not right to return to the country.
He said that the advise was based on the ratcheting tensions in the country which did not make it conducive for his return.
