The federal government on Friday rejected a ‘provincial’ joint investigation team (JIT) set up by the Punjab government to investigate the assassination of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan in Wazirabad.
While giving a press conference in Islamabad, Federal Minister for Railways and Aviation Khawaja Saad Rafique said that federal investigation agencies need to be included in JIT.
Federal intelligence agencies should also be included in the JIT.
The federal minister also questioned that when intelligence agencies were repeatedly warning Imran Khan about threats, why did they fail to take precautionary measures to avoid this incident.
Rafiq, however, condemned the incident and said that violence in politics is shameful.
He further said that neighboring India had started celebrating when the PTI chief was maligning the state institutions.
