Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Minister Ahsan Iqbal said that a ‘cricketer’ has put the nation on tanker hooks. He said that the federal government can use its authority to impose governor’s rule in Punjab.
The minister said this on Wednesday after Pakistan won a crucial match against New Zealand and reached the final of the ongoing ICC Men’s World Cup in Australia. The minister highlighted Pakistan’s victory. However, he insulted PTI Chairman Imran Khan on the occasion.
Without mentioning Khan’s name, he said that I wish the cricketer had also played a role in creating unity in the nation. He emphasized that cricket unites the nation.
He said that Pakistan has faced big challenges unitedly on many occasions and 18th Amendment, CPEC and National Action Plan are some examples to prove it.
Ahsan Iqbal said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is using opportunities like COP27 to mobilize the international community after the devastating floods that hit the nation earlier this year. He said that the country lost 30 billion dollars due to this disaster.
“There is one person,” the federal minister said, clearly referring to Imran Khan, who insists on creating chaos within the nation to fulfill his ego. The minister further said that apart from this individual, the entire nation is standing together on the other side.
He said that if the government surrenders to Imran Khan, many other groups will also advance their agenda. Therefore, the government has to run the country according to the law.
The Muslim League (N) leader said that it is unfortunate that Imran Khan considers himself above the Constitution of Pakistan, nobody can question him on issues like foreign funding and the Tosha Khana case.
He asserted that we appear before courts and inquiry agencies even if there are false cases against us, but Imran Khan cannot appear before FIA. He urged Imran Khan to abide by the law because he talks about one law and not two.
Ahsan Iqbal said that if the administration in the provinces fails and attacks the centre, then the federal government has the power to impose governor’s rule as it is the last resort. He said that if the provincial government fails, the federal government has the authority to give attention and order.
He said, “PTI is taking undue advantage of their provincial government by resorting to political thuggery. They are making life miserable by blocking roads.”
PTI workers are abusing common people by blocking various parts of GT Road. He said that an attempt is being made to destroy the economy of the entire country.
He pointed out that whenever there is an incident, the most important SOP is to take the injured to the nearest hospital. THQ Wazirabad, DHQ Gujarat, and Division Hospital Gujranwala are the closest hospitals to the attack site, but Imran Khan was taken to Lahore — a three-hour drive from the attack site. He asked why he made this decision.
