Judge Ruled Against Drake 21 Savage

A US judge on Wednesday barred rappers Drake and 21 Savage from using fake copies of Vogue magazine to promote their new album.

U.S. District Judge Jed Rockoff in Manhattan issued a temporary restraining order less than two days after magazine publisher Condé Nast filed a lawsuit against the two.

Condé Nast said Drake and 21 Savage were not allowed to create a fake magazine, featuring them on the cover, to promote their album “Her Loss” or to be endorsed by longtime Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. Advised.

Rakoff said Condé Nast has demonstrated a “likelihood of success” on its trademark infringement and false advertising claims. It also found substantial evidence that consumers were being confused and that the publisher had suffered “irreparable harm”.

Wednesday’s order requires Drake, of Toronto, and Savage, 21, of Atlanta, to stop distributing fake magazines and covers, including on social media. They can’t even use Wintour’s name or likeness.

Attorneys for the defendants did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Rakoff set a Nov. 22 hearing to consider the lengthy injunction.

Condé Nast said the defendants distributed the fake Vogue issue in major metropolitan areas, with posters plastered on streets and buildings.
