Mustafa Nawaz Khokar submitted his resignation to Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani on Thursday, clarifying that he will not join any political party at present.
“Alhamdulillah, I have formally tendered my resignation today. I am grateful for the positive response and support on party lines which was beyond my imagination,” Khokhar tweeted with a picture with the Senate chairman.

The former PPP leader has “clearly” told speculators about his political future that he will not join any political party.
The senator said that I will try hard to maintain my freedom.
The resignation has been accepted by the Senate Chairman and the seat of the former legislator of the People’s Party has been declared vacant.
Earlier this week, the PPP leader announced that he would formally resign as a senator after it emerged that the party was unhappy with his political position.
Khokhar – who resigned as PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s spokesperson in December 2020 – has been critical of the government since its inception. He also avoided becoming a minister of state in April.
In a series of tweets, the PPP leader said he met a senior party leader today, who told him that the party leadership “is not happy with my political positions and wants my resignation from the Senate”.
Bilawal’s former spokesman said “I have gladly agreed to resign […] I will personally submit my resignation to the Chairman Senate tomorrow.” Bilawal’s former spokesperson said.

Khokhar said that as a political activist, he values his right to express his opinion on matters of public interest.
“I am grateful to the party leadership for giving me the Senate seat from Sindh. Differences aside, it has been a wonderful journey with them and I wish them all the best.”
Sources told JEE News that PPP Senator Farooq H Naik informed Khokhar about the party’s concerns.
