Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan said that he is on the road to recovery after undergoing some minor health check-ups and procedures.

According to the Home Ministry, the minister was admitted to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology, also known as the National Institute of Heart Diseases (NIHD), in Rawalpindi for routine procedures and health checks.

“To all the well-wishers who are worried about my health after seeing my picture in the hospital, I am perfectly fine,” the minister said in an audio message on Friday.

“I had my heart surgery almost 20 years ago in 2004. For patients like me, some minor procedures and a general check-up are necessary every two to three years.”

He also praised the doctors and said that his doctors did his check-up in the most modern way. He said he also performed a minor procedure that he deemed necessary.

He said he is recovering after the procedure at AFIC in Rawalpindi and will be back in a day or two. He also urged his sympathizers not to congregate at the hospital, as the facility has restrictions.

“All my friends are welcome to come and see me when I return home on Sunday,” he added.

Federal Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said that Rana Sanaullah had gone to the hospital for a routine medical examination. Dismissing all speculations about his health, he said that the minister’s heart operation was done 18 years ago in 2004 and he needed a check-up every two to three years.

Aurangzeb said that he underwent medical examination two to three times this year, but the doctors advised him to undergo a minor but necessary procedure.

He added that the home minister’s health is stable and he will return home from the hospital tomorrow.
