On Wednesday morning, five bogies of a freight train derailed near Rohri, which was going from Punjab to Karachi.
According to the railway spokesperson, all passengers and staff are safe. Fortunately, no loss of life or property was reported.
However, traffic on the down track has been affected by the accident.
A rescue crane has been dispatched to Rohri to resume work on the down track. Meanwhile, Sukkur Express and Khyber Mail are delayed at Kot Lalu and Padaidan railway stations.
The majority of train passengers in the country are working class people who cannot afford the fast bus journey.
Train accidents are common in Pakistan, where the network has languished for decades due to corruption, mismanagement and lack of investment.
