Govt has identified operational ambiguity in Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar scheme.

The federal government on Wednesday identified what it described as ‘operational ambiguity’ in the low-cost housing program Mera Pakistan, Mera Ghar (MPMG) scheme.

He expressed these views during a meeting in the Finance Division on Wednesday. Federal Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar presided over the meeting. It was attended by NAPHDA Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Anwar Ali Haider, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Deputy Governor Seema Kamil and other senior officers of Finance Division and State Bank.

A briefing was given on ‘Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar’ Housing Finance, Markup Subsidy Scheme, its financial features and its operational and functional constraints and the mechanism for providing housing finance facilities to the public.

The meeting also considered making some structural changes in the existing scheme to make it more targeted and accessible to the public.

Expressing the present government’s commitment to provide affordable housing facilities to the low and middle income groups, Dar advised the authorities concerned to work on possible proposals that would remove the operational ambiguities in the current programme.
