Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed, one of Pakistan’s top military officers, has decided to take early retirement, JEE News reported on Saturday.
The news of the retirement of Lt. Gen. Hameed, according to family sources, Pakistan Army Chief of General Staff (CGS) Lt. Gen. Azhar Abbas also requested for early retirement.
These two military personnel were among the six military officers nominated by the General Headquarters for the post of Army Chief.
CGS Lt Gen Azhar Abbas has decided to bid farewell to early retirement, his brother confirmed to JEE News on Friday.
He said that I confirm that Lt. Gen. Azhar Abbas has requested early retirement to maintain his grace, honor and dignity as an honorary officer of the Pakistan Army.
“Known for his professionalism, foresight and leadership, Lt Gen Azhar Abbas has decided to bid farewell to early retirement, which befits his personality,” a reliable family source said.
It should be noted that Lieutenant General Hameed was the Director General of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence while Imran Khan was the Prime Minister.
This development comes two days after the federal government appointed General Asim Munir as the next Chief of Army Staff and General Sahir Shamshad Mirza as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC).
