Azam Swati arrested again for controversial tweets

ISLAMABAD: PTI leader Senator Azam Khan Swati has been arrested again for speaking out against senior military officers, JEE News reported on Sunday.

The PTI leader was detained from his farmhouse in Islamabad’s Chak Shahzad on Sunday morning.

The Cyber ​​Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested Swati for using abusive language towards the Army Chief and other senior military officers.

The case against the senator has been registered on the complaint of FIA technical assistant Anisur Rehman. The case has been registered under the Defamation and Electronic Crimes Act.

The senator has been arrested under sections 500, 501, 505 and 109. He was also arrested last month under the same provisions.

A day ago, the senator used abusive language against the Army Chief and other senior military officers on Twitter. The tweets were condemned by political and social circles.

Swati used abusive language on outgoing Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and used abusive language against Major General Faisal Naseer.

The PTI senator called Major General Naseer’s name and threatened that he will have to pay for it.

These tweets were condemned by Faisal Karim Kundi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection.

“Such statements are aimed at appeasing enemy states,” Kundi said, adding that PTI leaders could only speak on social media.

“If he has any evidence, he should bring it forward, and if it holds water, we stand by it,” SAPM said.

This is the second time that the PTI leader has been arrested by the FIA ​​for his controversial tweets.

Last month, the FIA ​​detained Swati from her home in Islamabad and produced her before the court.

Bail has been granted to the senator in the Rs 10 lakh bail bonds case.

The government has approached the Islamabad High Court to cancel Azam Swati’s bail in the case.
