ISLAMABAD: In an apparent attempt to crack down on real estate tycoon Malik Riaz and PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s close aides, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) produced Mr. Riaz and other beneficiaries before it on December 1. Malik Riaz has been asked to furnish complete records regarding the purchase of 458 kanals of land in Tehsil Suhawah, the agreement by which Bahria Town donated the land to Al-Qadir Trust along with revenue documents, and transferred by him. Particulars of other property held, or by any person in favor of his relative, Al-Qadir Trust or any of its trustees.

According to unconfirmed reports, Imran Khan’s wife is one of the trustees of the trust. “You are advised that failure to comply with this notice may result in penal consequences under the NAO 1999,” warned the real estate tycoon.

In June this year, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah unveiled a secret agreement reached between the NCA and Malik Riaz’s family (the “Counterparties”).
