The counting of votes in the local elections of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) continues, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is at the first position.
People’s Party has won 88 seats while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is second with 84 seats and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is second and third with 80 seats respectively.
There are 22 candidates from the Muslim Conference, one from Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) and 153 independent candidates who have also managed to win seats in the LG elections.
He said that 1314 polling stations have been set up in the division, adding that 418 polling stations have been declared as sensitive and 257 as highly sensitive.
Around 4500 personnel of AJK Police were deployed across the division while army troops were also present for security during the election.
After the phased contest of elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, development funds in the region will be spent by local councils instead of members of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
