Internet users in Pakistan faced network connectivity issues on Tuesday following the “double outage of SEAMWE-5 ground segment”.

“A double outage has been reported in the land segment of SEAMEWE-5 between the cities of Abu Talib and Zafrana in Egypt,” the Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) confirmed on Twitter.

The authority added that alternative arrangements have been made to provide uninterrupted internet services to consumers, while work is in progress to rectify the fault.

Meanwhile, NetBlocks – a global internet monitor – tweeted that internet blackouts had affected several countries, including Pakistan, Indonesia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Yemen, Oman, Somalia and Chad.
