Megyn Kelly ripped Will Smith over his recent interview with Trevor Noah in which he defended his outrageous behavior at the 2022 Academy Awards.
The journalist spoke to host Paul Murray to discuss the Oscar controversy and the King Richard actor’s recent conversation with Noah.
He said Smith was getting a “total pass” for slapping Chris Rock during the event because of his “skin color” and that if he were white, his career would be over by now.
“Let’s be honest,” he said, “if Will Smith was white and a black man attacked Chris Rock at the Oscars, he would never work a day in his life again.”
“He gets a pass because of the color of his skin and because he’s a huge star and Hollywood celebrates and values him,” Kelly added.
“They have to act like they’re crazy over this one incident because they realize the general population doesn’t appreciate it, but they’re not really crazy.
Kelly continued: “Will Smith get a full pass and remind us all the time how he’s the real victim.”
Further into the conversation, Kelly shared an example of what Smith’s apology should have looked like, saying, “I did something really stupid and cruel and I’m deeply sorry for that, I’m sorry. . That’s all I can tell you. I hope to earn your forgiveness.’ Period!”
“You know what he’s doing? ‘Poor me.’ He literally went into Trevor Noah, on that failed late-night comedy show, and said, ‘Hurt people, hurt people,'” he added.
