ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has reinstated Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar.

A three-judge bench headed by Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan heard the petition of CCPO Dogar.

The notice to the federal government was issued on Dugar’s appeal against the decision of the Federal Service Tribunal (FST).

Dugar was reinstated by the Federal Service Tribunal. However, his lawyer Abid Zuberi told the Supreme Court that the rehabilitation order was suspended by a two-member bench of the tribunal.

Zuberi said that the two-member bench of the tribunal cannot suspend the decision of the other bench.

Counsel for CCPO Dogar said the government’s review petition is also pending before the tribunal.

“How can one Bench of the Tribunal suspend the decision of another Bench?” Justice Ahsan asked the question.

He further said that the special bench held that the petition was filed prematurely and also issued suspension orders.

Justice Mazahir Naqvi said that how can the High Court say that the constitutional petition is not admissible.

Lawyer Zuberi replied that the provincial government did not want to release the CCPO.

The court reinstated Dogar as CCPO Lahore and adjourned the hearing of the case for an indefinite period.
