Quetta: After the bullet-riddled bodies of three people were found in a well in Barkhan district, the police raided the house of Balochistan Minister for Construction and Communications Abdul Rahman Khetran.

After their funeral prayers in Kohlu on Tuesday morning, the bodies of a woman and two men were brought to Abdul Sattar Edhi Chowk in Quetta by their tribesmen. Khan Muhammad Marri, a resident of Kohlu, claimed that his wife and two sons were among the victims. An audio message of Murree started circulating on social media. I am the heir to the dead bodies found in Barkhan. They are my son and wife,” he claimed. He alleged: “The five slaves are still in the possession of Sardar Abdul Rehman.” After the charges, the bodies were brought to Edhi Chowk from where they were taken to Fayyaz Sambal Chowk near Red Zone.

A protest was held in Fayyaz Sambal Chowk against the murder and the protesters demanded justice for the bereaved. According to JEE News, Khetran has denied involvement in the murder, claiming to be a “peaceful and law-abiding person”. He said that the charge of owning a private prison and killing three people was a conspiracy to damage my political reputation, adding that the previous government had searched his house. “If there was a jail, it would be known,” he insisted, “but if anyone is still in doubt, they can see my house.”

He said the allegations were a “sinister attempt” to deprive them of their “right to regional politics”.

A joint investigation team (JIT) headed by DIG Loralai Range has been formed to investigate the murder, the press release issued said.

Representatives of SSP Investigation, Special Branch Barkhan and Barkhan DC have also been included in the JIT, which has been given 30 days to submit its report to the government.

As soon as the news of this gruesome killing spread, several members of the Balochistan Assembly in Quetta condemned the incident.
