Pakistan and China on Thursday agreed to early launch of the Main Line-1 (ML-1) project, which aims to upgrade and modernize the country’s aging railway infrastructure.
The agreement between the two countries was concluded during a dinner hosted by the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong for Minister of Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq.
Chairman of Railways, Additional Secretary, Secretary Aviation and Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) accompanied the minister.
The Minister invited the Chinese Ambassador to consider the partnership of budget airlines with PIA to make Pakistan’s smaller airports functional and provide better travel facilities to passengers.
The Chinese ambassador assured the minister that he would discuss his desired issue with the Chinese private airlines.
The ambassador assured to take steps to allow Pakistani airlines direct flights from Pakistan to Beijing and Guangzhou as soon as possible.
