Blockbuster comedy Munnabhai M.B.B.S director Rajkumar Hirani on Monday revealed that Anil Kapoor was his first choice for the role of Murali Prasad Sharma aka Mana.
In her interview, Hirani said, “My first choice was Anil Kapoor because he played so many ‘bhai’ roles in films like ‘Aid’ (1988). At that stage, I thought Maybe he would be the right man. But then, the film went through a huge journey, even when Vinod (Vadhu Vinod Chopra) stepped in as producer.
“We also approached Shah Rukh Khan. Sanju (Sanjay Dutt) seemed perfect for the part. It’s because he has the body where he looks like a ‘brother’. He has the right heart. In place. Now, I look back and can say he was the right choice.” The film director continued.
Mannabhai M.B.B.S completed 19 years of release on 19th December 2022. Sanjay Dutt starrer comedy film released in 2003.
Others in the cast include Gracie Singh, Jimmy Shergal, Arshad Warsi, Rohini Hittingadi and Boman Irani.
