Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday announced a “petrol relief package” for petrol consumers before the holy month of Ramadan, giving a big relief to the people suffering from inflation.

The Prime Minister said that the people belonging to the low income sector will be given a subsidy of Rs 50 per liter under the Petroleum Relief Package.

This announcement came after the Prime Minister chaired a review meeting on the relief package in the provincial capital of Punjab.

Pakistan is reaching a brink with financial, humanitarian and political crises. With foreign reserves dwindling to cover just three weeks of imports, the country is facing its worst economic crisis in decades.

“Petroleum relief will be given to low-income consumers who own motorcycles, rickshaws, 800cc cars and other small cars,” he said, adding that the program would be launched soon and the relevant departments would be involved. A comprehensive strategy will be developed through collaboration. Effective enforcement.

He added that motorcycles, rickshaws and small cars are used by people with low income and petroleum subsidy will provide relief to the poor. “Despite its economic difficulties, the government is making every effort to help the poor.”

Furthermore, Minister of State for Petroleum Mossadegh Malik informed about the strategy of providing petroleum subsidy to the low income section of the society.

Last week, the federal government had increased the price of petrol by Rs 5 per litre, leaving consumers worried as they had already started anticipating higher inflation in the coming month of Ramadan.

The new prices came into effect from March 16 and will remain in effect till March 31.

The finance division in its fortnightly bulletin attributed the rise in prices to the depreciation of the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar and an increase in prices registered by Platts Singapore.

The price of high-speed diesel has been increased by Rs 13 per liter while the price of kerosene has been kept at Rs 2.56 paise by reducing government dues. Similarly, the price of light diesel oil has also been kept constant by adjusting the government dues.

Apart from this, the Prime Minister has also decided to provide free flour to one million residents of Islamabad during Ramadan.

Presiding over a meeting held in the federal capital earlier this week to reduce the impact of inflation on the lower and middle class, Prime Minister Shehbaz said the government was taking steps to reduce the hardships of the poorer sections of the society. .
