JEE News reported on Wednesday that a grenade was thrown at the residence of former provincial minister and businessman Haji Muhammad Javed for the second time.
This was the second such attack on the former minister’s house in the last two days.
An official of the Capital City Police said that there was no report of any loss of life or property in the grenade attack on Javed’s house under construction in Gulbahar.
Senior police personnel reached the spot while bomb disposal experts collected evidence from the spot, the official said.
The house of a senior member of the Tablighi Jamaat was attacked with a grenade a few days ago. There was no loss of life or property in this incident either. Several months ago, his house was also attacked.
During the last few months, there have been several incidents of grenades being thrown at houses, rooms and factories in Peshawar and other districts of the province.
Sources said that most, if not all, of the victims were those who received extortion calls on WhatsApp numbers from unknown groups. Some incidents were not related to extortion.
A source said that most of the grenade attacks are carried out to scare the victims.
Calling a large number of industrialists, businessmen, politicians, contractors and other affluent people, there have been more home invasions in recent times.

The law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has gone south over the past few weeks as threats and attacks on security forces as well as top political figures have increased.

Bilor added that ‘Apart from Amil Wali Khan, Sardar Hussain Babak and others have also received threats while MPA Faisal Zeb’s house was attacked twice in the last few weeks’.
Apart from the attack on ANP MPA Faisal Zeb’s house in Shangla, in recent months a hand grenade was hurled at party senator Hidayatullah’s house in Peshawar.
In the recent spate of violence, politicians belonging to other political parties have either been attacked or threatened.
