Asad Qaiser meeting Nawaz Sharif loyalists in Bahawalpur

Bahawalpur: Former Speaker National Assembly and senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser met Muslim League (N) loyalists Chaudhry Saud Majeed and Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood Jaja during his visit to Bahawalpur on Sunday.

According to reports, the PTI leader met former senator Majeed and former MPA Jaja at the latter’s farmhouse in the Cholistan desert.

The three leaders had dinner and discussed the current political situation in the country as well as regional politics.

The publication said that the meeting is of great importance as Qaiser is considered a close associate of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

While this meeting has raised eyebrows as both PML-N leaders are considered loyal to Nawaz Sharif. However, political analysts find the dinner meeting hosted by him suspicious.

Interestingly, Federal Minister for National Food Security Tariq Bashir Cheema, who has distanced himself from Chief Minister Punjab Pervaiz Elahi and joined Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet, is a fierce rival of Chaudhry Saud Majeed.

Also, the current electoral situation looks different for Majeed, who believes that the PML-N leadership may support Cheema in the next general elections as he launched the Tehreek-e-Non against the then Prime Minister Imran Khan. had supported the trust and had resigned. Cabinet

It is important that according to Imran Khan’s announcement, PTI is preparing for elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in case of dissolution of assemblies.

PTI’s position is that by dissolving both the assemblies, it can force the government to hold early elections. However, the ruling coalition has ruled out the possibility of snap polls and said it will hold by-elections.

Both sides are engaged in intense political maneuvering to counter each other’s plans.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Pervez Elahi is trying to maintain the status quo in the province till March.

Speaking in an interview on Sunday, Elahi said that nothing is going to happen in the next four months.

“At that time negotiations were the best option, he said, adding that the dissolution of the assembly depended on how the Center behaved (with the province).”

He said that reforms and Election Commission should be discussed by March. People “who matter” will sit down and talk, he said, adding that we will do what we have done.
