LAHORE: The Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Tuesday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and other party leaders.

Non-bailable arrest warrants were also issued for PTI leaders Hamad Azhar, Mian Aslam Iqbal and others.

The court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant on the request of the investigating officer.

Cases were registered against the accused in Naseerabad and Model Town Police Stations of Lahore for setting fire to a container and attacking the office of Pakistan Muslim League (N) in the provincial capital.

Dozens of cases ranging from terrorism to corruption have been registered against the ousted prime minister since he was ousted by a no-confidence motion in April last year.

After riots following the arrest of the former prime minister in the Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9, a case was registered against the party chief and other party leaders on charges of terrorism.

During nearly three days of violent protests, PTI supporters allegedly attacked and torched state facilities, killing at least eight people and injuring dozens.

Following the violent protests, many PTI leaders and founding members including Shireen Mazari, Fawad Chaudhry, Imran Ismail, Ali Zaidi, Aamir Mehmood Kayani and others quit the party while many criticized the party chief’s policies of violence. Held responsible.
