Pakistan’s Ayla Majeed was elected as the vice president of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) on Wednesday.
With this appointment, Majid has created history as she is the first South Asian woman to be elected to this global position in ACCA’s 118-year history.

Former Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry shared this news on his official Twitter handle and congratulated Majid for this achievement.
ACCA Pakistan’s official Twitter account also shared the news of Majid’s appointment, adding that she is a strong supporter of sustainability and energy transition.
“For Ayala, promoting the role of women in governance is something she is very passionate about. Ayala is a champion of board diversity and is active in promoting women on boards. She is an asset to any stock in Pakistan. She was the first woman to sit on the board of the exchange.
The International Institute of Professional Accountants further thanked her and said that because of pioneers like her, the influence of women is changing the face of Pakistan.

In 2021, Pakistani student Zara Naeem made the country proud as she achieved the highest score globally in the financial reporting exam for the December 2020 ACCA exams.
Zara, a student of Lahore’s SKANS School of Accounting, was among the 527,000 students who took the exam from 179 countries.
