BHC ordered to quash all FIRs registered against Azam Swati.

Quetta: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Friday ordered that the First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against PTI Senator Azam Swati over his controversial tweets against senior army officers be quashed.

These orders were issued by the BHC on a petition filed by the senator’s son against the registration of cases in Balochistan.

5 FIRs were registered in Balochistan against Azam Swati for posting controversial tweets against senior military officers.

Balochistan police had arrested the PTI senator last week and taken him into custody after a local court in Quetta granted the law enforcement agency’s request for physical remand.

At the time of his arrest, the senator was already on judicial remand in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, the second time he was detained in connection with a controversial tweet on November 27. The police

The senator had then approached the BHC over the case and earlier this week the court had directed that no further cases be registered against the senator.

During the previous hearing, the court had also asked the police chief for a written report of the cases registered against the ailing Swati.

Controversial tweets cases
Several cases have been registered across the country for tweeting controversial tweets against Army officials on Swati.

He was first arrested in October in connection with a controversial tweet, when he posted a hateful and threatening message against the army chief, judiciary and other state institutions on his official Twitter account.

In this case, the senator got bail.

But on November 27, the FIA arrested him once again for using abusive language against former army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa.
