After Sarfraz Ahmed scored a century during the second Test of the two-match series between Pakistan and New Zealand at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi on Friday, Mohammad Rizwan praised the right-handed batsman’s performance on Twitter.

This century is Ahmed’s first century since 2014, when he replaced Mohammad Rizwan for the series. After he scored a century, fans’ hopes rose that Pakistan would win the match easily.

However, Michael Bracewell dismissed the wicketkeeper-batsman in the closing stages of the game as Pakistan battled to a draw in dim light.

After several stars of the game, including Wasim Akram, heaped praise on Ahmed, Rizwan took to Twitter to praise the 35-year-old.

“Another brilliant knock from Saifi Bhai. That’s something you get with faith in Allah and hard work. I’m as happy to have Saifi Bhai named Man of the Series as I would have been if I’d won. So – actually more than that,” he wrote.

It is worth mentioning here that Ahmed, who last played before this series in January 2019, had to wait three years, 11 months and 15 days to don the Pakistan Test shirt once again.

The former captain played a brilliant innings of 86 runs in the first innings of the opening Test before losing his wicket to Ijaz Patel, while he scored 53 runs in the second innings.

In the second Test, the batsman scored 78 runs before being dismissed after a controversial decision. Ahmed scored 118 runs in the second innings.

In all, the wicketkeeper-batsman scored 355 runs in four innings at an average of 88.75.
